Introduction
Welcome to httptext.com. This service is designed for software engineers and site builders who wish to include ability to send text message to mobile phones on sites they build. Unlike other gateway aggregators who will charge a fixed monthly fee as well as a charge per text message, this site allows you and your clients to have text-out facilities through payment for individual messages. This is similar to the "Pay as You Go" service on mobile phones. We also guarantee the interface to the text-out facilities will not be changed without consultation with you. You can be confident that once you have implemented the function, you will not need to continually change the code to access the text-out facilities.
To use this site, you will need to sign-up as a member. This is a free service and basically membership allows us to keep in touch with those people who develop using our site. You will have to have sufficient credits before the site will send out any texts on your behalf.
We have also designed the functions so that you can test your code without having to pay for text messages. We will generate a "dummy" transaction to your membership email account.
How does it work? All you have to do is include a call to our site in your HTML code supplying membership identifier, password, target text number and, text string using "HTTP-GET" statement. Examples of the code can be found be found by downloading the appropriate language examples by clicking on Code Examples.
Our site will perform the following functions:-
- Check your identifier and password
- Check that you have sufficient credit
- If you have sufficient credit, we will send the text message to the number and subtract the charge from your credit balance
- If you do not have sufficient credit, we will send the text and a message to your email account.
Crediting Your Account
We use paypal to process payments from you. Once you have signed up as a member, just go to Your Details and click on Make payments. You can select the amount you want to credit. Please note, we will deduct paypal charges we incur before crediting you. This is set at 20p plus 3%. So if you pay £5, your credit balance will be (£5.00 less 20p less 15p) £4.65.! Sadly, we can't avoid these charges.
Our charges
For each text that you send out, we will charge you 9p. This is substantially less than most "Pay as you Go" contracts from your mobile company. We will Endeavour to keep our text tariff low and we will revise these in line with the marketplace to ensure a cost effective service.
